DRESS

I think this is the perfect beach dress! I liked it so much I sent it to my mom and sisters to purchase. The color combination is so bright and fun. I like the midi length and I do not mind a little sleeve on a lightweight dress. I can easily see using this dress for dinner on our summer vacation.

LITTLE BEACH STREET BAKERY

This is such an adorable book. I am an avid reader and bakery so this book was meant for me! Even though I am not a huge romance fan I like Jenny Colgan’s light hearted reads. I also am obsessed with traveling to Scotland these days so the amazing descriptions of this tiny Scottish island really make me smile. If you are looking for a quick light beach read this is the book for you!

THE GASPARILLA INN

I recently saw another Blogger’s (MaryandCrew) photos from her vacation to Gasparilla Inn and now I am hooked. I love a beautiful resort but to top it off this is a historic inn which gives it even more character. My husband and I have visited Boca Grande before but we did not stay here. The beaches here are gorgeous! We went to a public beach while in Boca Grande that was small and private. It was amazing!

GREEK YOGURT FRUIT TART

I have made this Fruit Tart from Sally’ Baking Addiction so many times and it gets better with each try! Not only is this delicious but it is a pretty healthy dessert. When I make the recipe I do not use as many dates I probably only use about 12. Depending on who I am making the dessert for I will change up the fruit toppings. My kids are not big fans of Kiwi so I go heaven on the berries for them. I have also made this for breakfast when I have guest who I know are watching what they eat. I would definitely recommend this recipe to everyone!

PLANTERS

These planters are so adorable! I like that they look like a basket but are cement. They will definitely hold up well outside. I am going to get two of the largest size planters for my side yard. I have some ferns that need planters so I think these will work perfect. I also saw a similar version of these on Amazon.

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks! Have a great weekend!

SCALLOPED MARBLE BOWL/INA GARTEN’S ROAST CHICKEN/

Happy Friday! I am sharing my FRIYAY 5 today which is a combination of my 5 favorite things from the week whether it is fashion, design, beauty, travel, home décor or a book!

SCALLOPED MARBLE BOWL

I adore anything marble! This cute little bowl is so versatile. It can work as a dipping bowl, candle holder, dish brush holder, or used in numerous ways to add a layered look to your home décor. I want it for my side table to place a candle on. I would take every item June Home Supply has in their online store! They have so many great neutral pieces.

INA GARTEN’S ROAST CHICKEN

My family enjoys this recipe so much I make it at least twice a month. I do substitute the fennel for celery though. My kids do not like fennel so I had to adjust the recipe. I also often will substitute Olive oil for the butter. I have cooked the chicken both ways and do not find it makes a huge difference whether I use the butter or not. It does take over an hour to cook so I usually make this recipe on Sunday nights or I will prep it in the morning so I can get it in the oven as soon as I get home from the office. Our family highly recommends trying this simple yet delicious recipe.

THE PEARL HOTEL

The pictures of this hotel are gorgeous! A friend of mine stayed here one night on her way to Key West. She said the hotel is wonderful and more then worth the price tag. I think this will be a trip Brandon and I take on our own. Rosemary has a lot of great restaurants and shopping as well. I think I will spend my time by the pool or at the beach with a book.

LONGBOURN

I really enjoyed this book though I usually do not like to read books that imitate the work of Jane Austen. I am a huge fan of all of Jane Austen’s work and find that many modern romances are not to my taste. I decided to try this book because it had good reviews and I was in a lull. Sometimes I have periods where I cannot find a good book. I will try out lots of different books but none satisfy me so I never finish them. It was during a period like this that I decided to give this book a try. I am glad I did because it is not really a retelling of Pride and Prejudice at all. Pride and Prejudice is just the background story to this book and the main tale is about one of the servants in the Longbourn household. I would defiantly recommend this book. I enjoyed it with a cup of tea and some homemade scones. Reading and Baking are my favorite activities!

LEOPARD PRINT TEE

I find I am always buying clothes for work so that now I do not have nearly enough weekend outfits whether casual or for a night out. I saw this tee at the store and loved it. I like that it is comfortable and a great fit but also fun! I think the print really adds something special to this crew neck tee.

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks! Have a great weekend!

Favorite Vases

Favorite Vases

I think Spring is such a wonderful time of year because the flowers are in bloom! I am a sucker for fresh flowers and I enjoy arranging them in fun vases, bowls, pitchers or planters. I think a vase of beautiful flowers makes a room feel brighter and happier. I especially like fresh flowers when we have guest whether they are just over for dinner or staying the night. My kids love sunflowers and often talk my husband into buying them when they are at the grocery store. My favorites are Hydrangeas, Peonies, Tulips and Orchids. Below I have included a wide selection of different vases that would suit most anyone’s style. I personally have a lot of white and blue vases but I am trying to venture out of my comfort zone. All the vases I picked out are under $50 because who doesn’t love a great deal! If you see any that appeal to you just click on the image and it will direct you to the website. Thanks for stopping by!

Textured Table Lamps

Textured Table Lamps

I adore all the beautiful textured lamps that are currently in style. I found a great affordable option at target which is pictured above. It is hard to tell but the lamp is rigid with a rough texture that does not show as well in the picture. I have saved all my favorite textured lamps below. I have created a wide range of shapes, color and sizes. The prices vary from $40 to $300 but I think many of the more affordable table lamps look just as beautiful as the $300 versions. I hope you find a table lamp that will suit your taste!

Decorating with a Clam Shell Bowl

Decorating with a Clam Shell Bowl

My oversized clam shell bowl is one of my favorite décor pieces. I put it on my Friyay 5 list last week and had a question about how to style a clam shell bowl. I decided it would be fun to do a post with different styling ideas. Sometimes I like to keep it simple and leave my shell empty but I enjoy adding in fillers to change up my décor. My absolute favorite idea is to use Orchids and Moss which I have pictured above. I also added a close up shot of the orchids below. I usually start with a large oasis in the bottom of the clam or a foam board if that’s all I have. From there I can add my orchids or other faux flowers and greenery. I then add in my moss to cover any spots where you can see the oasis. In the Orchid picture above I actually have a mix of real orchids and faux (a trick from my mom). If I do not have enough height from just placing the oasis in the bottom of the shell then I will add some Target bags under the oasis. This way all the décor pieces can be seen and they sit above the edge of the shell. However, if I want to keep thigs quick and easy I simply add some decorative balls or orbs into the empty shell. You’d be surprised how good the orbs alone look but you can add in moss or eucalyptus to give more depth and color. I have a picture below where I used decorative orbs and some greenery. I used the same reindeer moss and moss orbs in both of my clam shell filler ideas.

PINTEREST INSPIRATION

I am addicted to Pinterest whether I am looking for recipes, travel ideas, gifts or party themes. My favorite thing is to find styling tips for my home décor. I have included some of my inspiration pins for filling my clam shell bowl. I hope some of them will inspire you! ROUND MIRROR/NAVY BEACH TOWEL/AFFORDABLE ART/GIANT CLAM/SEA MIST

Happy Friday! I am sharing my FRIYAY 5 today which is a combination of my 5 favorite things from the week whether it is fashion, design, beauty, travel, home décor or a book!

ROUND MIRROR

This Mirror has such a beachy vibe to it. I adore all things rattan. This mirror is a great price too. I think this mirror would work great in an entryway. I was thinking of using it in my niece’s room which is all navy and white. It is not a large mirror so I was thinking of adding some fun hanging baskets with it. If you missed my post on hanging baskets click here.

NAVY BEACH TOWEL

I have been planning our summer vacation recently so the beach has been on my mind! I purchased two of these towels and everyone in my family fights over them. I am going to have to order 2 more this year. They are large and my kids like to use them as a blanket. My sister in law loved them when I brought them with us to their lake house.

AFFORDABLE ART

I am always on the lookout for affordable art. I am very picky about my art and it is hard for me to find a lot of options that I really like. When I do find something I love I purchase it as long as it is in a reasonable price range. This piece is perfect for me because the colors are my favorite and I adore the beach! It gives me a calm and relaxed feeling which we could all use more of these days.

GIANT CLAM

I have this oversized clam shell in my family room and it is one of my favorite home décor items I own. During holidays I fill it with Christmas ornaments, flowers, eggs, greenery or whatever I can find. Unfortunately my kids and husband also like to hide there gaming accessories in my shell too. I am constantly putting away their things when I spot them in my shell.

SEA MIST

I have never tried this product before but I have seen it numerous times on other blogs. I think I will give it a try because I do not like to fix my hair when I am at the beach. I have naturally curly hair so I want to see if this helps. If it is effective then I may add it to my morning hair routine.

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks! Have a great weekend!

Laundry Room Makeover

Laundry Room Makeover

We have a small laundry room which was basically an empty room when we bought our home. Below you can see what our laundry room looked like before we got to work. I needed to add some shelving in order to organize this room. I also really needed a spot for drying some of our clothes. I considered cabinets but I have loved all the open shelving I have seen on Pinterest and Instagram. I am so glad we went with the shelving because it gave me a chance to add some fun items to our laundry room. Now I feel like our laundry room has a ton of storage and some personality!

I started by painting the laundry room Pure White by Sherwin Williams which really made the room feel larger. I then added this fun wallpaper which I got for an amazing price! I added the wallpaper because it brought so much personality to a plain room. I knew I would not be adding a lot of décor to the room so wanted to find a way to add detail without cluttering the room. My husband then built me these great shelves for under $30. I used the leftover Sherwin Williams Naval Paint from the entryway project on the shelves.

I knew I did not want to spend a lot of money on this makeover so I got this pretty print for $4 on Esty. I then got an affordable frame from Target (similar) and I already had this faux fern and planter from Target (similar). I also found this adorable paw print jar for Link’s treats! Now anytime we pop the top he comes running!

I tried out many different baskets from Target but ended up keeping these baskets. The tan striped soft sided laundry baskets are not only cute but very functional! They no longer have the striped tan but they do have other colors! I now have more then enough storage and have been able to move some items from my kitchen into the laundry room opening up lots of much needed space.

I found this drying rack for such a great price and have used it so often. I do think I am going to order one more for the other side. It can hold a lot but with two kids and the wash machine constantly running I think one more would be perfect!

Hope you enjoyed our Laundry Room Makeover and it inspires you! If anything caught your eye feel free to scroll through the images below. Just click on any image and it will take you directly to the websites.

THE RITZ-CARLTON/BERRY BOWLS/SANDALS/NAPKINS/HURRICANES

THE RITZ-CARLTON AT LAKE OCONEE

I have had several friends visit this Ritz-Carlton for a long weekend and they all raved about it. We were planning to go this past fall but Covid changed our plans. The resort is in Georgia so it is drivable from Louisiana which is a plus. Once we are able to plan our trip again I will give a review!

NAVY BERRY BOWLS

I love these berry bowls! Of course anything blue will catch my eye but I also really like the cute patterns. My sister-in-law introduced me to berry bowls. She has some cute ones that she keeps in her refrigerator full of berries and grapes. She can then easily pull out for guest or for her family. I loved the idea because my son loves fruit especially blueberries and strawberries. When I get home from the grocery I like to wash his fruit and keep them in these bowls so he can easily grab them for snacks.

SANDALS

These are such cute sandals! I love sandals that I can just slide on and be on my way. I like the color combo and how the navy pops against the white. I plain to wear these with dresses and rolled jeans. I will be able to wear these to the office too which is a huge plus.

NAPKINS

As soon as I saw these napkins I knew I had to order them. I have seen similar napkins but they were way out of my price range so I was excited when I found these. I love to create fun tablescapes for Saturday Night dinners. We love eating outside in the spring so we will get a lot of use out of these!

HURRICANES

I have been on the hunt for rattan hurricanes that I could use for candles but also as a vase for flowers. I love any décor that serves a dual-purpose! When I saw these unique hurricanes I knew I had to add them to my must have list! Of course since they are navy they have to go to the top of the list.

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks and you all have a good weekend!

Easter Tablescape

Easter Tablescape

One of my favorite things to do is creating tablescapes for every holiday. Our kids are huge fans too! My older niece and nephew would never admit it but I suspect they like it as well. It makes the occasion feel special and adds to the holiday which has been especially helpful this past year. We have not had our traditional holidays with family like so many others so I have tried to make the smaller gatherings feel special.

My idea for this year’s Easter table started with this beautiful light blue table throw and napkins. I am more prone to table throws than I am to tablecloths. I prefer a layered look so adding this plaid throw to my white tablecloth really elevated the table. Of course the gorgeous bunnies from Pottery Barn were a must. My mom and I found these cute stone bunnies and knew we could not leave the store without them. The little guy laying down was my favorite and my daughter went nuts when she saw him. I knew she would love him as much as I did. I already had the Great White Dinner plates from Pottery Barn which I use as my everyday plate. These plates are large and durable. They’ve certainly endured the beatings from my kids and still held up well. I would also recommend the soup bowls in this pattern because we get so much use out of them. They work great for salads and pasta dishes too.

One recent Saturday shopping trip my daughter and I took, we found these cute corn husk eggs and wood egg holders. We tossed them both in our cart immediately since there were so few left. My daughter loves hard boiled eggs so I have a feeling she will insist on using the egg holders often throughout the year. I have been eyeing these beautiful rattan placemats but they were too pricey so I was happy when I found these great alternatives for only $6. On the same Saturday shopping trip my daughter also spied the cute bunny ear napkin rings. Since I knew the napkin rings would work perfectly with all the other items we’d purchased for our table, I caved and bought them as well. I enjoy our shopping trips because it gives us time alone to catch up from the week. Unfortunately my daughter inherited my addiction to all things pretty so we have trouble controlling ourselves.

I always add something organic to my table and since I went a little crazy with flowers for the house this Spring I decided to just use some greenery. I got this garland but had to add some sprays so that it would look lush! I will share my Easter Flowers and décor next week so come back and take a peek!

I hope you guys enjoyed our Easter tablescape as much as we enjoyed putting it together! I have individual pictures below of each item we used in creating our table so click on the image and it will take you directly to the websites.
