Swim Coverup

I love this swimsuit cover up. I am always self conscious about my legs so I got this skirt a little oversized so that there was no gap in the fabric. I love wearing this to the pool because it gives me so much confidence! It was a little long on me but I am only 5’4″. I have worn it 3 times up to the pool and it has held up after washing. I did dry it the first time hoping it would shrink a little in the length but I have mainly let it dry on my rack.

Wicker Chain

I just got my wicker chain in the mail and I love it. Below I have a picture of it on my coffee table. I am still trying to decide if I want to keep it on the coffee table because my son says it is in his way! He thinks the entire family room is nothing but a playroom for his army men. Either way I love it and have already thought of so many fun ways to style with it.

Isola Filicudi, Italy

I love to research travel and new places for our family to visit. My husband does not like crowds so when I saw this island, Filicudi which lies northeast of Sicily, I knew this would be a destination he would enjoy. I found some great articles about island but my favorite description was on the Visit Sicily website…”little wild and worldly, ideal for those looking for the intensity of the essentials and who love unpolluted nature. The three population inhabited centres of Filicudi are: Filicudi Porto, Valdichiesa and Pecorini a Mare, joined together by a very picturesque street. Livelihood here centres around tourism and the cultivation of capers and figs, which are the basic ingredients of the local cuisine.”

Death Comes to Pemberley

I adore Jane Austen and I went through a phase where I would read anything that even attempted to imitate her work and style. I however would not recommend a lot of these books to others because in all honestly most where not that great. I however would recommend this novel. I like that the author did not try to recreate the story but instead just took well know characters I love and used them in a genre I adore…mysteries! I also appreciate PD James writing style. My favorite PD James book is Mistletoe Murders. This is also a three part mini series that aired on Masterpiece and is currently on amazon.

Vanilla Bean Biscotti

My daughter and I made this delicious recipe the other night and we just had to share it! The recipe is super easy and the end result is so fantastic! If you have ever had the already made version wrapped in plastic and did not like them then give this recipe a try! Homemade and fresh is no comparison to the premade. Below is a picture of the batch we made. You can tell we dripped the icing over the entire biscotti instead of having it all in one bite. My kids dipped their biscotti in tea and chocolate while my husband and I enjoyed them with our morning coffee.

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks! Have a great weekend!

THE BOOKSHOP ON THE SHORE

BY JENNY COLGAN

Whenever I want an indulgent read that is short and sweet I always go for a Jenny Colgan book. Her books always make me happy and take me away to another place…Scotland! She is so great at drawing you in with her beautiful descriptions of her home country. I will say I am not always in the mood for a romance book but when I am Jenny Colgan is one of my go to authors. This is a sweet book about a single mom who just needs a little help and she finds just what she is looking for in a small quaint Scottish town.

SCALLOPED JUTE RUG

I saw this scalloped jute rug on the Harlowe James website and feel in love. If you have never looked at her site you should try it out. I love all her great vintage finds too. I like the idea of getting this adorable rug in the small size to use as a mat either in my Kitchen or in my guest bathroom. I like buying from small shops on Esty so this is a win win all around.

PORTREE, SCOTLAND

Scotland has been on my bucket list since I was in college. My husband and I went to London for a short 6 day trip and I really wanted to add on some time to travel to Edinburgh if nothing else but sadly we could not make it happen. I am trying to now plan a Scotland and Ireland trip for all 4 of us. I think my kids will love it. They are great travelers and love experiencing new things. They are also always willing to try new foods which makes travel with them even more fun. They are happy in a Michelin Star Restaurant or a dive. My kids get just as much enjoyment from an incredible meal as my husband and I do. Our kids favorite meal is going to a local Spanish restaurant for escargot and paella then walking down the street to our favorite coffee shop for some Gelato.

LEMON VINAIGRETTE

I absolutely LOVE this vinaigrette!! I use it in salads, on some orzo pasta with a sprinkle of parmesan, or as a chicken marinade for the grill. This is such a versatile recipe. I always have the ingredients on hand so it is handy to have on those weeknights when I cannot find inspiration to whip up something. I include the honey or maple syrup and the dried thyme even though she says it is optional. I cannot recommend this recipe enough!

SWIMSUIT COVERUP

I am always on the hunt for a good coverup so when I saw this best seller on Amazon I had to order it. I loved it so much I told my twin sister who ordered it as well. I like that it fits loose and longer in the back to cover up the back of my thighs.

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks! Have a great weekend!

MEDITERRANEAN CHOPPED SALAD

Our family loves a delicious salad and this one nailed it. Isn’t it just gorgeous with all the colors! The dressing really clinches the deal though. I did have to take out the tomatoes since I am the only one who likes them. I used a block of feta and cut it into big hunks because that is the way my children love it. We paired this recipe with a a Greek marinated chicken.

VILLA SAN GIACOMO

The Amalfi Coast is at the top of my travel list so when I came across this gorgeous villa hotel I had to share. The views are incredible and the rooms are luxurious. I am not sure much else needs to be said!!!

TERRACOTTA BOWL

I love anything for my kitchen that is unique and eye catching. I love neutrals so this bowl really checks off all my must haves for kitchen décor. I love all tableware that I can not only use but display as well!

SURF SHACK

I love home décor with a beach vibe. My husband grew up near the beach and loves going at least once a year to one beach or another. I not only love the home décor ideas but it is such a pretty book to put on display.

RATTAN TOTE

I adore the simplicity and shape of this bag. I plan to use it as a handbag but also as a beach tote! It is not big enough for me to use when I have my kids but it is perfect for a weekend beach trip with just the hubby!

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks! Have a great weekend!

MONTHLY MYSTERIES

MONTHLY MYSTERIES

I love to read and there are not many genres I am unwilling to try but I am currently passionate about cozy mysteries. I started with Louise Penny and from there have expanded my range into all types of mysteries and crime novels. Below I have three great reads for those of you looking for a good book!

DISSOLUTION

BY C.J. SANSOM

This is a great book! I would recommend it to those who love a good mystery or for anyone who likes historical fiction. The series centers around Matthew Shardlake who is a lawyer during the reign of Henry VIII. The first mystery is set at the monastery of Scarnsea during the period in which Henry VIII has ordered the dissolution of all the monasteries. This is actually a time in history which I have never been that drawn too but this series has definitely changed that for me. I like the moodiness of the period and the setting is perfect for a mystery novel. Matthew Shardlake is one of my favorite type of characters. He is flawed but not in the traditional “English detective” way. He is physically handicapped but has a keen mind. I could not recommend this series enough!

THE LEGACY

BY YRSA SIGURDARDOTTIER

I tried this series out because it was set in Iceland which is a destination on my bucket list. I enjoy books that allow me to escape to an entirely different place. I was hesitant when I saw the series name, Children’s House Series, but the crime does not center around children. The relationship the author develops between Detective Huldar and child psychologist Freyja really has me hooked on this series. I like seeing a relationship develop between the individuals working to solve the crime instead of jumping in after years of partnership. I also appreciate that even though these are dark crimes the books never leave me feeling moody.

MURDER ON BLACK SWAN LANE

BY ANDREA PENROSE

I always enjoy a cozy, British mystery. Especially ones set during the Regency Era. Throw in a Duke or an Earl and I am hooked. I will say this book did not get strong reviews from fans of C.S. Harris who writes in a similar style and setting. I have not read anything by this author but plan to do so soon. There is a romance to the series which I thought was good but there were some historical inaccuracies and the writing is not always at its best. Having said all this I do not think this is a bad book and even still recommended it to my sister with reservations.

Hope you find something that peeks your interest. Enjoy!

Rattan Bracelet

I adore rattan or cane home décor so it is no surprise this bracelet jumped out at me! The neutral color means it will go with every outfit. I cannot wait to wear it with my beach dresses!

La Granja

I want this outdoor eating area in my home! But I am willing to travel to Spain to enjoy it. The entire hotel is gorgeous. Even if you cannot visit Spain you have to go check out the pictures of this incredible hotel. Make sure to look at the poolside bar that is set under the most serene trees!

How to find Love in a Bookshop

I really enjoyed this beautiful story! Since I am a lover of all books this title instantly attracted my attention. The combination of a love of reading and music help to create the perfect setting for a beautiful romance. Several side stories, including one about a new mom whom I could whole hearted relate to, really rounds this story out to encompass all types of women. This can be a tear jerker at times but the book pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it.

Sloppy Joes

This is one of our families’ favorite recipes! If you have not tried some of the “100 days of real food” recipes then you have to start here. This is such a great alternative to traditional sloppy joes out of a can and it honestly taste so so much better. You will not regret giving it a taste. I will add that I puree all the veggies before sautéing them which made this kid friendly for our family!

Mango Wood Vase

Don’t you just love these simple mango wood vases. I think these would be a great addition to any home décor style. I can picture it perfectly in my home, my sisters’ and mom’s. We all have very different taste when it comes to decorating our homes but I know we can all agree on these!

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks! Have a great weekend!

WHITE JEANS

White jeans are such an essential for a summer wardrobe. I really like these because they are cropped and just a little torn. I have multiple blouses I am ready to wear with these perfect jeans. I love the fit of Loft jeans and they do not stretch out too much as the day goes on. I hate jeans that are falling off after a day long wear.

WHITBY, NORTH YORKSHIRE COAST

I love visiting the UK. I adore reading British Detective novels because of the amazing settings and beautiful details they provide. My husband and I went to London for our honeymoon and we plan to take our kids once they oldest is 12. My son is dying to go see Big Ben because of Peter Pan. I want to explore more small towns outside of London.

GARDEN SPELL

My sister and I really loved this book. We are not really into books about magic but this book has just the right proportion of reality and magic! The characters are developed well and the setting is beautifully described. I would love to spend several hours in their amazing garden. The book is about the Waverley sisters coming to terms with their past and their unique family traits but it also has a sweet love story. We have read all of Sarah Addison Allen’s books and this is my favorite! The Sugar Queen and the Peach Keeper are wonderful as well.

EASY MONGOLIAN BEEF

This is a super easy and delicious weeknight meal. My kids loved it so that is all I had to know to add this recipe to my weeknight rotation. I did find the sauce a little runny so I added in some arrowroot (cornstarch) to help thicken things up. We have it over brown rice with chicken spring rolls.

LEOPARD PRINT THROW BLANKET

I am always on the hunt for blue throw blankets that are unique. I really like this one and put it on my Mother’s Day gift list for my husband. I love animal print and this blanket will work perfect on my couch. Now I just have to keep my son from stealing it.

I hope you enjoyed my weekly picks! Have a great weekend!
